Abstract
[Extract] From 2009-2012 archaeologists at the Australian National University undertook an Australian Research Council funded project titled Crossing the Green Sea that aimed to investigate the prehistory of the remote Indian Ocean islands. An outcome of this project was my doctoral thesis Cown; Shell Money and Monsoon Trade: The Maldives in Past Globalisations, which examined early Maldivian colonisatioan as it related to Indian Ocean globalisation. This research involved the analysis of previously excavated materials located in Oslo, Norway, which contained among many items of interest.
