Abstract

Summary:

[The year 2020 will be remembered for the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic. Those who become infected may be asymptomatic and in some cases mild symptoms are evident: fever, dry cough, shortness of breath and general malaise; but in some people the appearance of severe signs is possible: dyspnea, which can cause alveolar damage, and other complications that favor lethality. Analyzing the data of recovered cases and deaths by age groups, taking into account the population density in Colombia, allows us to have a dimension of its effects, specifically in the elderly, who are the age group most affected by mortality. The vaccine is an alternative to control the pandemic over time.]
