Abstract
The astonishingly fast rate at which technology is evolving has several implications. Not only new tools and opportunities to improve workflows and overall daily life are constantly emerging and becoming widespread but, likewise, a darker side of progress is also evolving in parallel at the same speed, if not even faster. In fact, as technology becomes more powerful and, at the same time, easier to use, so becomes the expertise of cyber criminals. Most importantly, new technologies designed to perform a complex set of tasks, often depending on other tools or services, do potentially offer a multitude of attack vectors that can be exploited to disrupt, steal or gain unauthorised access to data, functionalities or services. Unfortunately, it is safe to say that with new technologies come new, hidden vulnerabilities.
