Abstract

[Extract] This report therefore sets out the results of this researchand provides information/data that can be used in planning for disaster management and provide further discussion points on the affordability and uptake of insurance in Northern Queensland. Key findings from the data analysis are complimented by five keyrecommendations. This includes the potential for a larger research projectto target specific areas of vulnerability in the North Queensland region. Inaddition to this it is recommended that the Cairns Regional Council can potentially address the issue of under/non-insurance through a few key tasks. As it is not the remit of this research to resolve the issue of under/non-insurance and costs of premiumsin this region, more research is required to address how these core issues can be resolved. Thus more work will need to be done in order to address these core and common concerns.
