Abstract
[Excerpt] To the Editor: We read with interest the Rapid Communication of Chen et al. who found repetitive administration of the opioid analgesic buprenorphine in a mouse model of cecal ligation and puncture (CLP) markedly elevated sepsis surrogate markers(interleukin-6, KC, monocyte chemoattractant protein-1, andgranulocyte-colony stimulating factor) in 20% to 60% of septicanimals (1).
