Abstract
The effect of low cycle fatigue (LCF) on the subsequent high cycle fatigue (HCF) life of a 316L steel was investigated. Aspectacular increase of HCF life following a certain number of LCF cycles is reported. A further increase in the number of LCFcycles leads to a drop in HCF life.
