Abstract

[Extract] In 2017 Cairns figured on the State Committee business on several occasions. It gave a well-attended course in the middle of the year followed by the Annual State Meeting. Brian McGowan, State Committee Chairman contacted me later about using our Ivan Lester memorial meeting in November as a venue for presentation of RACS awards to individual FNQ Surgeons. This well attended event garnered a large audience and Bernard Whitfield representing the Chairman, presented RACS awards to three worthy beneficiaries, John Knott, Larry Perrett and Paul Muscio.
