Abstract
[Extract] In their comment, Dumas et al. discuss the 'chaotic history' of a series of five peer-reviewed articles, describing the refinement of a technique using vinegar to cull crown-of-thorns starfish(COTS). In my response I focus on the two main topics in the comment: 1) A disagreement of what is an effective control method 2) giving proper credit for prior work. I discuss each point below and conclude with a discussion on a constructive way to move forward.
