Abstract

A social norm intervention program was trialed at a South Australian university in 2001. The results from an evaluation of the effectiveness of the program to alter widely held mis-beliefs amongst the student population with regards to the drug and alcohol use of their peers were inconclusive. Social norm marketing is a widely used practice in university in America with documented effectiveness. It is a health promotion strategy worthy of further study in the Australian tertiary context.
