Abstract
[English] Objective: To investigate the psychological plasticity of lung cancer patients and related factors.
Methods: A survey was carried out on 150 patients with lung cancer so as to compare and analyze data using the "psychological behavior plasticity" dimension of the Cancer Psychosomatic Status questionnaire, the Cancer Coping Modes Questionnaire, the Enterprising and Magnanimous Questionnaire and the Hospital Anxiety and Depression Questionnaires. T-tests,analysis of variance and Pearson correlation analysis were adopted for statistical analsis.
Results: ( 1) Psychological behavior plasticity dimension: Lung cancer patients scored higher than patients with benign tumors. Demographic studies showed lower scores in male population than in female population. Higher status in academic background was correlated with lower scores in the dimension of "psychological behavior plasticity" . The group of patients with the occupation of state officials or government employees had the lowest score in this dimension. ( 2) Correlation analysis: the dimensions of "psychological behavior plasticity" and "confrontation" were negatively correlated,so as with enterprising and magnanimous psychological characteristics and the dimension of "enterprising" . There were positive correlations of the dimensionof "psychological behavior plasticity" with dimensions of "avoidance and suppression" and "resignation" ( P < 0. 01).
Conclusion: Lung cancer patients have worse psychological plasticity than patients with benign tumors. Lung cancer patients with higher enterprising and magnanimous mental levels, positive, using confrontation as the coping mode and able to keep better moods have better psychological plasticity and therefore more likely to receive psychological treatment.
