Abstract
Papua New Guinea (PNG) is a country made up of 22 provinces and has a population of over 7 million people, with over 852 known languages between them. The country itself is drastically different between each region, with landscapes varying between mountainous in some parts and low lying seaside in others. Previous research has indicated that persons who live in certain regions or have certain genetic backgrounds may have superior physiological and anthropometric characteristics compared to those from other regions. Although study on this topic has been completed in parts of Africa, currently in the Asia Pacific region there has been limited research on the effect of region of origin on the above-mentioned characteristics.
