Abstract

[Extract] The 4th Industrial Revolution was one of the key issues addressed at the 46th annual World Economic Forum (WEF) held last year in Davos.

What is your opinion on the importance of the 4th Industrial Revolution in terms of the Agricultural sector?

I believe in the 4th Industrial Revolution, there will be an acceleration in innovation and the use of technologies (as a results) will have a major impact in the agricultural sectors. It would create new ways of serving existing farmer’s needs and significantly disrupt existing best practices and the way the agricultural industry has been operating in. A key trend is the development of technology that can substantially improve harvest yield using the same plot ratio of land and resources. This is important to the agricultural industry as current agriculture land is not sufficient to meet the demand of a growing population globally.
