Abstract

[Extract] Understanding the past to inform the present and the future is a recognized field of qualitative research inquiry. Since the very dawn of time mankind has reflected on their lives and passed their experiences on to others through oral traditions, capturing illustrations of life experiences, written accounts and through fashioned artefacts. In this chapter historical research methodologies are described and the methods adopted to generate and analyse data are highlighted.
