Abstract
Olympic weightlifting is a dynamic strength and power sport in which two, multi-joint, whole-body lifts are performed in competition; the snatch and clean and jerk, and has been a longstanding part of the modern Olympic Games with wide and growing international participation. The first World Championships were held in London in 1891, with 7 athletes representing 6 countries. Weightlifting was among those few sports that featured on the program of the first Modern Olympic Games, in Athens 1896. In the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games a female category was introduced. At present there are seven weight categories for women and eight categories for men. As from 1st January 2017 there will be 8 men and 8 women categories. The following is a description of the weightlifting testing protocols for PRIMA, athlete consent form and testing criteria.
