Abstract
[Extract] The rise in shellfish allergy incidence, accompanying an increase in consumption and exposure to shellfish allergens, has become a serious problem worldwide. Precise diagnosis of shellfish allergy poses a challenge due to the diversity of consumed species, and immunological cross-reactivity to similar invertebrate pan-allergens. Moreover, variable concentrations of major and minor allergens in diagnostic preparations often result in false-negative results.
