Abstract
[Extract] T2D is a progressive disease with increasing insulin resistance and relentless deterioration of pancreatic β cell function. By the time T2D is diagnosed, patients have lost up to 50% of their β cell function. Due to the progressive nature of T2D, a significant proportion of patients will require insulin therapy either early or late in their disease.
