Abstract

The vehicle to grid (V2G) system allows power flow from grid to the batteries and from batteries to the grid. When correct timing is used, batteries are supporting grid quality and reliability. Benefits of the grid may give profit to the grid operator and electric vehicle (EV) owner. This system will also balance the grid by absorbing wind power and solar energy produced for the power system. Major pilot projects have been undertaken at the University of Delaware, Edison in Denmark and the US Defense Force. Fluctuating voltage frequency needs to be between the limits. Vehicle to grid can provide power regulation to keep frequency stable.
