Abstract

[Extract] The Detention Health Advisory Group (DeHAG) applauds Patrick McGorry's statements about the risks associated with Australian immigration detention, outlined in your Feb 6 Editorial (p 434).1 The quoted study from the University of Wollongong2 examined the health of individuals within Australian detention centres; not surprisingly it showed that lengthy detention is associated with negative mental health consequences.
