Abstract

[Extract] Exciting things are happening in the heritage sphere in the Pacific, as anthropologists, archaeologists and museum, heritage and other specialists collaborate with Pacific people in both heritage practice and the analytical assessment of events and trends encompassed by that broad term. It was in this atmosphere that several of us decided to contribute to the growing body of literature with a sample of innovative contemporary research that would provide insights into current thought and action in Pacific heritage.
