Abstract

Objectives: Using environmental DNA(eDNA) to undertake a survey of tilapia in water bodies within the Lower Pioneer Catchment.

Outcomes: Based on thh eDNA survey results, tilapia are present in the Lower Pioneer Catchment. The eDNA survey detected tilapia in four sites from the Goose Ponds and Beconsfield. The detection rates for tilapia were low in all samples where tilapia were detected, which may be due to low levels of infestation or a sampling effect.
