Abstract

[Extract] Adolescent suicide:

Disturbingly growing around the world. Governmental and private resources allocated into understanding and preventing this phenomenon focused on information, mental health treatment and social support networks.​

During the last decade governmental programs proved to lack efficiency in serving the ever growing number of cases dealing with adolescent drug abuse and suicide. ​

Based in our experience in a number of Latin American countries, traditional focus and medication should not be the single available option in suicide prevention and treatment.
