Abstract
Take Home Messages:
Talent identification is an independent practice, and should not be confused with talent detection and/or talent selection.
Address both elements of talent identification – performance outcome AND performance production measurements.
Address three considerations: 1. Appreciate the gift-to-talent developmental process. 2. Critically understand the sporting requirements. 3. Measure the fundamental sporting requirements.
Appreciate the multi-dimensionality of sport!
Rarely is one element fully explanatory of superior performance or potential so don't rely on one element for identifying talent!!!
