Abstract

[Extract] This report provides an overview of the quality of acute stroke care in Australia using data from the Acute Services Clinical Audit. The Acute Services Clinical Audit Report forms the second part of the National Stroke Audit 2011. It provides a measure of adherence to important aspects of care recommended in the Clinical Guidelines for Stroke Management 2010. The information can be used by participating hospitals to benchmark themselves against similar hospitals and to act as a quality improvement tool for hospitals to focus on areas to improve their stroke services. Changes in acute clinical care that have occurred since 2007 are also presented.
