Abstract

[Extract] The meta-analysis of Miao et al., concluding a lack of significant association between TIRAP S180L polymorphism and tuberculosis, is a helpful contribution to the growing literature relating to genetic influences in TB.1 In light of the apparent importance of the Toll-like receptor (TLR) family in TB infection, however, it is worth recognising that there are other polymorphisms of interest which may offer further insights into tuberculosis susceptibility and patterns of disease expression.
