Abstract

A Trombe wall is a finite enclosure with both the top and the bottom open. In this study, direct numerical simulation is used to investigate the effects of the Rayleigh number Ra, the channel width-to-height ratio w, and the ratio of the air inlet height at the bottom to the channel height h o on the natural convection and heat transfer in the Trombe wall channel, in particular their effects on the velocity fields.
