Abstract

This study examined an organisation displaying an innovative mode of operation in relation to its management control system. The findings provide evidence of an informal and flexible approach in the development and support of a strategic focus to management control. This included frequent conversational management interactions and a low emphasis on formal communications, such as reports and documents and few formal management meetings. The findings also highlight a continuing need for conventional measurement as a core component of management control.
