Abstract

[Extract] Epidemiological studies have consistently demonstrated the numerous health benefits of regular moderate-intensity physical activity. However, in most Western countries large proportions of the population do not accumulate the recommended 150 minutes per week of moderate physical activity. For instance, in the United Kingdom two in three men and three in four women are not sufficiently active, and rates of physical activity have not changed substantially at the population level.
