Abstract
[Extract] INTRODUCTION The Australian Centre for Tropical Freshwater Research (ACTFR), James Cook University of North Queensland, was commissioned by NSR Environmental Consultants (Melbourne) to undertake a review of butterfly species listed under the Queensland Nature Conservation Act (QNCA) whose known distribution in mainland Australia overlaps with that of the interim alignment of the proposed Papua New Guinea to Queensland gas pipeline. Within mainland Australia, the interim pipeline route includes a 20km wide corridor, and extends from the tip of Cape York Peninsula to Gladstone, with a lateral going to Townsville.
