Abstract
[Extract] This interim report contains information in relation to vegetation communities and conservation priorities for the Regional Growth Options study area of Townsville City Council (TCC), and is part of a larger vegetation and wetland survey of the lands in the TCC area. This interim report has been prepared quickly for the TCC to facilitate the planning process of the Regional Growth Options Study. Further survey is planned for this and other areas within Townsville City prior to compilation of two separate final reports (wetlands and vegetation).
This report is based on rapid assessment of vegetation communities, and makes only passing reference to the fauna. It must be recognised that the full conservation significance of any habitat cannot be described by vegetation analysis alone. Fauna surveys (literature and field) will be required to provide the necessary information for more comprehensive assessment of the conservation significance of certain areas and the habitats within them.
