Abstract

This case study used a research project, which explored older Chinese migrants' collective narratives on ageing in a new place, to provide an understanding of narrative research methods. The background of older Chinese migrants ageing in New Zealand was provided. This article also offered a rationale of employing the Western episodic and Chinese fangtan interviews as data collection tools. It was concluded that fangtan provided an example for Chinese social scientists on how to develop methods of research that are indigenous to Chinese participants.
