Abstract
Levels of anthropogenic pollutants entering Great Barrier Reef waters have increased fourfold over the past 150 years. The result is a decline in water quality with widespread implications for Far North Queensland's cultural, social and economic future. Combined Australian governments are supporting initiatives to address this problem. This paper considers contributions schools can and do make towards improving the quality of water in the Great Barrier Reef.
