Abstract

'The Transference of Minds' utilises the creative practice methodology developed in my PhD and described in my peer-reviewed article, 'Artful Life Stories: Enriching Creative Practice Through Oral History,' published in Text (2013). The work represents a research output from a wider research project documenting how fiction can provide a form to explore voices often marginalised in traditional histories and imaginatively fill gaps in the historical record. The short story responds to an image found in the archives and demonstrates a means that fiction can depict the subjective experience of women’s mental health.
