Abstract
Nursing research. What is it about these seemingly harmless words that strikes dread into the hearts of nurses? Unfortunately, many see nursing research as something that is done by 'others'. For them, it conjures up images of scientists, in academic settings, conducting experiments that have little, if anything, to do with the 'real world' of nursing. Ironically, it is often these same nurses who are disgruntled by what they consider to be outdated practices in nursing.
