Abstract
[Extract] Although Jason P. Abbott recognizes the flaws in dependency theory, he nevertheless applies it to prove his thesis that the automotive industry in Thailand, Indonesia, and Malaysia has yet to mature. Qunitessentially, one of the benchmarks of overcoming this handicap, Abbott argues, is the need for indigenous research and development efforts in these countries, coupled with the absorption of technology and expansion of existing market share.
