Abstract

[Extract] When 'hip' American intellectuals talk about the UK, they often ask: "what is going on across the pond." That expression "across the pond" obviously refers to the fact that, in a globalised world, the US and the UK have become two "shores" of the "Atlantic Pond" - which can be easily crossed. Indeed, two countries which have so many differences have so much in common, as well.
