Abstract

[Extract] The Coastal Catchment Initiative (CCI) is an Australian Government program that seeks to deliver significant targeted reductions in the discharge of water pollutants to agreed 'hotspots'. The Great Barrier Reef catchment is considered to be a hot spot. Within it, the CCI is specifically supporting the development and implementation of a Water Quality Improvement Plan (WQIP) for the Burdekin River catchment. The WQIP will be integrated within the Burdekin Dry Tropics Natural Resource Management (BDTNRM) Plan and Regional Implementation Strategy (RIS).
