Abstract

[Extract] This investigation has been conducted to provide Australian universities and Exercise and Sports Science Australia with quantitative and qualitative data of the experience and capacity of placement supervisors and of activities undertaken by clinical placement supervisors to facilitate learning and competency in exercise physiology students. This study also examined current processes used to provide students with clinical placement learning experiences in Australia. It is expected that outcomes from this investigation will assist stakeholders to understand common and important contemporary issues facing clinical supervision that are likely to impact on future clinical supervisory practice and capacity. Furthermore, the findings of this investigation will provide a solid basis and rationale for undertaking further clinical educational research in exercise physiology.
