Abstract

[Extract] Grafton Street, Cairns was the historical site for Cairns Chinatown - the largest and longest running Chinese community outside Brisbane from the 1880s until the mid 1940s. Supporting a diverse population of Chinese settlers, entrepreneurs, women and families, this book sets out to explore the history of Chinese settlers in a prominent North Queensland town.
