Abstract
[Extract] The promise of e-surveillance for alerting us to emerging infectious disease epidemics is being fulfilled. The power of HealthMap, ProMED-mail, and the Global Public Health Intelligence Network to interrogate available global electronic and print data for infectious disease surveillance in real-time is fittingly lauded by Eliza Barclay (Sept 20, p 1025).¹
