Abstract
[Translated] This book is devoted exclusively to marine protected areas of Costa Rica’s Pacific. It contains a brief review of the planning and management of marine protected areas in Costa Rica, each marine protected area is then described; we provide information on the geographical location, historical background, relevant legislation, a biological description, a map and photographs. This publication compiles and portrays Costa Rican marine protected areas; aiming to generate widespread awareness of marine conservation in Costa Rica. This publication was supported by the National System of Conservation Areas (SINAC) and the Costa Rican Institute of Fishing and Aquaculture (INCOPESCA) who we thank for their participation.
