Abstract
[Extract] A range of people from different walks of life have been talking about the need for Indigenous people and their families to take greater control and responsibility for the issues affecting their lives, as a first step in addressing alcohol, violence, unemployment, and other social difficulties facing many communities. Despite this discussion occurring amongst Indigenous leaders, health practitioners, social commentators and at government levels, very little has been written about how to support Indigenous people and their families to do this.
