Abstract
[Extract] Anyone who is sceptical that indigenous people are addressing misuse of alcohol in their communities should pay close attention to Chapter 8, 'What’s being done?', to dispel some of those doubts. Saggers and Gray highlight an important point: unless 'these strategies address the underlying issue of colonisation' (p. 169), they will not be effective in reducing the level of alcohol misuse. Once again, the authors refer to the multitude of other factors involved in indigenous alcohol misuse, and in so doing reveal their outstanding depth of experience and knowledge in this area and their evident expertise, especially in relation to the Western Australian context.
