Abstract
[Extract] Conservation organizations are becoming increasingly aware of the need to deal equitably with local peoples' rights to forest land and forest resources. "Rights-based" approaches to conservation are being widely promoted. In many situations these "Rights-based Approaches" are evolving alongside major forest governance reform initiatives.
