Abstract

Health services should have resources available to provide treatment and follow-up for health checks. Adult Health Check Indigenous people 15-54 years, non-Indigenous people 46-74 years. Risk factors and problems assessed - Chronic diseases and cardiovascular risk - Common conditions often missed in routine health care delivery - STIs - Women's cancers Organisation of Adult Health Check depends on clinic and community wishes and resources. Options include - Community screening, eg. health weeks - Opportunistic screening of individuals - Targeted screening - certain groups, eg. age groups or diseases Health checks should ideally be performed by same-sex practitioner and always in a private area. Screening fom1s and a population register are helpful. Medicare Enhanced Primary Care Health Assessment forms may be useful.
