Abstract

This chapter focuses primarily on the Preparatory(Prep) year of schooling with children aged 5 to 6 years. The diversity of Prep classrooms is explored through the use of a practical teaching example that links the Learning Design Process, commonly known as the 8 Learning Management Questions (8 LMQs) with the Queensland Early Years Curriculum Guidelines (EYCG). Each state and territory of Australia uses a curriculum/learning framework for the early years.
