Abstract

[Extract] Will management replace administration in the Australian public sector? According to Glyn Davis: 'The public sector is moving towards business techniques, reinterpreting its task as delivering economic services, not just ministerial support.' This quotation from its concluding chapter concisely states the primary theme of Corporate Management in Australian Government, a compendium of separately authored readings bought together by the Centre for Australian Public Sector Management (CAPSM) at Griffith University. The subtitle - Reconciling Accountability and Efficiency - states the problem explored in part II: Australian Practice.
