Abstract

Students and teachers of health education need to be clear of their own personal 'philosophical' stance towards the subject before they can teach it adequately. In this paper, we outline how role-play can be used by health educators as a teaching strategy to encourage students to critically reflect on conventional approaches to health education. A model of role-play is presented which allows the teacher of health education to become familiar with the process of role-play and its potentialities in education.
