Abstract

[Extract] In this chapter, written especially for the second edition, I revisit some of the data to further explore aspects of the discourses through which gender is made real, both by the children and by me as researcher. This book was the first piece of writing where I took up and used aspects of poststructuralist theory. It is interesting, a decade later, to use that work as a basis for this exploration of poststructuralist analytic strategies, not so much as an exemplar, but as a point of departure.
