Abstract

This Portfolio Thesis introduces seventeen scientific and technical papers that present unique numerical and analytical algorithms that can be applied to any type of data and imagery, independent of scene content, but are developed and illustrated here in the context of astronomy and space sciences. Specifically, application to autonomous remote vehicles for exploration is developed as a unique enabling technology. For each paper, I present its significance to a hypothetical autonomous rover mission as an example of how the new algorithms might find utility.
