Abstract

Sir, I thank the editors for the opportunity to reply as I am grateful to Dr. Bergamaschi for his interest in our work which gives me a chance to discuss some controversial issues about our meta-analysis and some technical points of ligasure hemorrhoidectomy.

To quote the letter, the conclusion that "LigaSure for haemorrhoids is a technique which allows more favourable postoperative recovery" never appears in our meta-analysis. The concluding line instead reads: "the present updated meta-analysis showed that LigaSure haemonhoidectomy offers net benefits for the patient." [1]. This is because of less pain, less blood loss, faster wound healing and earlier return to work. Instead in the conclusion is stated that "Postoperative stay and complications remained not significantly different" [1].
